  Technical Information & Requirements

  Workstation Requirements
Drain Tracker has run successfully on a 300 mhz Pentium 1, however a 933 mhz Pentium 3 or better with at least 256 MB of RAM is recommended.

  Servers
Drain Tracker data is typically stored on a file server running the TCP/IP protocol, with the program installed on each workstation. An alternative is have one computer in a peer to peer network act as a 'server' and have other workstations access it that way. You can also choose to run the program stand alone on either a standard workstation or a laptop.

  Backups
You can include Drain Tracker files in a nightly backup to tape or other media. You can also create mirror images of the database modules at any time.

  Laptop Use
Drain Tracker can be installed on a laptop for out in the field use, however the data is typically read only. If this option is required a utility is provided to copy the data to the laptop at any time. An exception to the read only rule  would be a situation where a laptop is being used in a stand-alone scenario with the working data stored on it.

  Programming Platform
Drain Tracker was created using a combination of Filemaker Pro 6 and Visual Basic.
